DEATH AND FUNERAL ANNOUCEMENTS
Faculty from the University of Nairobi and sons of the late Prof Okoth-Ogendo carry the casket during the burial service in Nyakach district, Nyanza province on Saturday 9th May 2009. He will be remembered for his contribution towards the task of a Land Policy Initiative for the African union, a presentation he was making in Addis Ababa before his death, the formulation of the National Land Policy currently being finalised and in the Ghai-led constitution of Kenya Review Commission (CKRC) where he served as vice chairman.

THE LATE VERONICA ACHIEN'G OGOLLA
BORN 29TH JANUARY 1989
We regret to announce the untimely death of Veronica Achien'g Ogolla in Germany which occured on the 1st May 2009 after a short illness. She lived and studied in German.
Daughter of Pamela Ogolla of Nairobi Kenya, sister to Mandella, Jane Ogolla, , niece to Rosemary Ogola, Benedette Ogolla, Charles Ogolla, Michael Ogolla, Terry Ogolla, Elizabeth Ogolla and the late Steven Ojiem. Granddaughter to Peter Ogola and Helida Ogolla both of Ahero. Cousin to Carol, Bevis, Nick, Erick, lovell, Daphne, Theo, Isaac, Destiny , Briar, Darren, Jenny, Ochien'g, Irene, Jocinta and among others.
Friends and Families are meeting from 3pm till late on Saturday 9th May 2009 for fundraising to transport her body back to Kenya

Amos Okello son of Fredrick Okello Awello and the late Dorcas Okello of Kano Kolwa, Buoye.
Brother to Tom Okello UK. He is survived by a widow.
The Body will be leaving Mombasa Joacham Mortury on Thursday for Journey to Kisumu,
He will be buried on Saturday 28/03/09 in Buoye, Kano Kolwa . The body is still in Aga khan Hospital Mombasa Kenya.

Joab and Grace Swamba wish to inform you about the death of Mzee Joshua Ondiek of Kano Kobura. He was father to Grace Swamba of Cheltenham, England. He died after a long sufferring with throat cancer.His body lies in the mortuary in Kisumu.

Celebrated scholar dies in Kisumu
One of Kenya’s celebrated history scholars Stephen Eisha Atieno Odhiambo is dead.
Prof Odhiambo who wrote many books, essays and articles on Africa’s contemporary history and philosophy died at the Kisumu’s Aga Khan Hospital on Wednesday. He was 63.
His wife, Jane, confirmed his death yesterday and said he has been suffering from a medical condition known as "Dementia" (loss of memory).
Odhiambo, a father of four, started ailing after he retired as a professor of History at the Rice University in the USA last year.
"We have lost a great scholar," she told The Standard at her home in Ndere, Siaya District.
He was born in Muhoroni Sugar Belt to Mzee Zablon Ogwa Mor and Mama Rosebelle Akumu.
He attended Hono Primary School in Alego and Ambira Intermediate School before proceeding to Alliance Boys School. Odhiambo joined Makerere University in Uganda in 1970 then later joined Oxford University where he studied for his PhD.

FUNERAL ANNOUNCEMENT – FRED OWUOR
Death has occurred of Fred Humphrey Owuor in London. He was born to Joab and Margaret Owuor on August 19, 1975. He hails from Gem Karariw. He was the beloved brother of Nicholas and Magadalene, Audrey and Samantha and uncle to Arianna, Jesse and Jason. He is also survived by a special friend to Elke Panzner. He started his early education at Lavington Primary School, and completed his higher education at St. Mary’s School, both in Nairobi.
Fred moved to the United Kingdom in 1996. He suffered a stroke in October, 2007 and as a result he developed a blood clot in his brain and a punctured left lung. He was hospitalized at Charing Cross Hospital until his release in December, 2007. He was undergoing therapy until his untimely death on April 12th, 2007. He passed away peacefully in his home as a result of pulmonary thrombosis.
